Network Status Changes For United Healthcare and Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island

Effective 9/1/26, our practice will no longer participate with Neighborhood Health Plan of RI, and as of 9/15/26 we will no longer participate with United Healthcare. Body Mechanix Physical Therapy has been caring for members of the South County community for over 26 years and during that time we have come to build strong relationships with our community members. We understand that this change will impact our ability to care for some patients, which is why it is not a decision we have made without very careful consideration. 

Being a small, privately owned business is something that sets us apart from many other physical therapy practices.  It also means that we are not equipped to take on the ever growing burden put upon small practices by larger insurance companies. For many years we have accepted as many insurance plans as possible without regard for the extra administrative work they may require, or whether their reimbursements were in line with the cost of operations.  This is the first time in the history of our practice that we have made the difficult decision to remove ourselves from participation in an insurance network.

Our practice will continue to offer a Self Pay option for patients with United Healthcare and Neighborhood Health Plan once our network status changes.
